Geelong has apologised after some Cats members were bombarded with texts yesterday.

Members reported receiving up to 15 texts urging them to get tickets for the Greatness! Raffle, in which Cats fans can win a Ford Focus.

The club released a short statement on its website apologising for the issues yesterday, blaming technical issues:

Late this afternoon, Cats fans may have received multiple text messages from the Geelong Cats to their mobile phone.

A technical fault of our SMS platform is the primary cause of this error, which resulted in the text message being sent to the same mobile phone number a number times. The club will continue to monitor and investigate the issue.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused. Due to network delay, you may receive further text messages, however please be assured all communication via the SMS platform has ceased.

The texts continued for another hour after the statement, ceasing at around 7pm.
