Fremantle coach Ross Lyon has reportedly made contact with Essendon great James Hird about joining the club.
The Dockers are on the lookout for a new opposition analyst, and rumours are circulating that Hird has been sounded out by coach Ross Lyon for a role at Fremantle.
Hird quit the Bombers at the end of 2015 following the club's drawn-out drug saga, but he made a rare official public appearance at last year's grand final when he presented the Norm Smith Medal to Richmond star Dustin Martin.
