A Toowoomba woman who survived third degree burns sustained in a backyard fire has settled her case, for an undisclosed sum, outside of a supreme court.

Paris Turkington was 16 years-old when a backyard fire at a party she was attending left the teen with burns to 42% of her body after an accelerant was thrown on the fire.

Ms Turkington had filed a damages claim against the host of the party’s home and contents insurance provider.  She was asking for $11.8 million in damages.
