The deliberate rushed behind rule is in the spotlight after an incident in the first quarter of the Richmond v Melbourne Anzac Day eve game at the MCG.

Tigers defender David Astbury appeared to fumble the ball across the line, but that didn’t stop the umpire from paying a deliberate rushed free.

Jesse Hogan booted a goal from the resulting free kick.
