It’s fair to say that everything could go wrong for England on this Ashes tour has gone wrong.

At no point has that been more plainly obvious today as when debutant Tom Curran thought he had David Warner out for 99 just after lunch.

England had dried up Warner’s scoring options by bowling wide of off-stump and tempting him to throw his bat, and his patience ran out on 99.

He tried to force a ball to the leg side for a single and got through the shot too quickly, the resultant leading edge saw the ball pop up for an easy catch to Stuart Broad at mid-on.

The only problem was Curran had bowled a no-ball, so Warner was given a reprieve.

Watch the moment the crowd realised the wicket was being overturned here:

As you’d expect, social media blew up.

Warner went on to his ton the very next ball.

The drop didn’t end up being particularly costly, with Warner edging Jimmy Anderson to the keeper on 103.

The Aussies are 2/145 at tea, with Usman Khawaja on 10* and Steve Smith on 5*.
