Social media giant Facebook deny they’re hacking your computer’s microphone to listen in on conversations.

Facebook’s vice president of advertising Rob Goldman has rejected claims of cheeky eavesdropping for the sake of advertising revenue, ABC reports.

"I run ads product at Facebook. We don't — and have never — used your microphone for ads," he tweeted.

"Just not true."

Goldman was hitting back at an earlier tweet by an internet podcaster who’d invited people to call up the Reply All programme if they thought “Facebook [or Instagram] uses your mic to spy on you for ad reasons".

Across hundreds of replies and retweets, Facebook corporate communications director Adam Isserlis jumped in on the discussion, reminding everyone the issue was addressed back in 2016.
