Essendon will be without midfielder Travis Colyer for up to three months after he had foot surgery.
Colyer had to undergo an operation after the injury to the sesamoid bone near his big toe didn’t respond to management.
“Travis has had a painful sesamoid injury which unfortunately has not responded to conservative management,” Essendon High Performance Manager Justin Crow told the club’s website.
“He underwent surgery yesterday in order to remove the small bone (sesamoid) underneath his foot.”
“Once Travis is reviewed by the surgeon, his recovery timeframe will become clearer, however typically we would expect him to be unavailable to play for a period of 12 weeks.”
Colyer posted to Instagram saying that the surgery went well.
