There is a possibility that Toowoomba Regional Council could introduce electronic waste collection services to the region.
E-waste is a consideration as part of a revamp of one of its facilities.
The council revealed at the Ordinary Meeting held on Tuesday (February 19) that it had put a tender out to market seeking a contractor to provide "a variety of resource recovery services" at the O'Mara Rd dump.
Cr Nancy Sommerfield welcomed the concept, which would separate general waste into sub-categories, making it easier for e-waste to re-used, recycled, saving it from landfill. Technology was being developed to recycle e-waste, pointing to the world's first e-waste micro-factory launched at the University of New South Wales last year. The tender process will close this month. Missed something? Catch up here! Make sure you download the Triple M app from iTunes or Google Play to stay across everything Triple M.
