An apprentice jockey in New Zealand has made one hell of a balls-up after mistaking the distance of his race in Hokitika.
Rafi Firdhaus was dominating going through the straight - the only problem being it was only halfway.
“He’s misjudged this, this rider. He’s miscounted the rounds Rafi Firdhaus,” the caller said. “Locally Sauced, you haven’t won son.”

Amazingly, he still managed to finish fourth once realising his error.
