Hawthorn buried Essendon under an avalanche of goals in the third quarter of their clash at the MCG today.
The Hawks booted 6.3 to 0.1, but there is some suggestion the last of the six shouldn’t have counted.
Tom Mitchell gathered the ball off a contest with just a few seconds to go and booted a goal, but appeared to be beaten to the punch by the siren.
The call was tight but the goal was awarded.
