You read that headline right.

Western Australian batsman D'Arcy Short has obliterated Queensland for a score of 257 - the third highest List A score on record.

Short belted his 257 off 148 balls, featuring 15 fours and 23 sixes, before being stumped in the 46th over.

Before succumbing to the spin of Matthew Kuhnemann, it's arguable Short left runs out there.

It's the highest ever score by an Aussie in a 50-over game, surpassing Ben Dunk's 229.

It's also the highest amount of sixes ever recorded in a List A match, surpassing the previous record of 17.

The next highest score for Western Australia was Marcus Stoinis with 27.
