Former Collingwood Magpie and all round legend Dane Swan has put his hand up for the vacant Socceroos manager position - albeit tongue in cheek.

The Australian sporting world was buzzing this morning following the not-so-shock resignation of Ange Postecoglou as Socceroos manager.

Even before guiding the 'Roos to a fourth consecutive World Cup, it was widely reported that Postecoglou would resign from his position.

Now, with Football Federation Australia on the look out for a new manager, Swan has thrown his hat in the ring early, taking to Twitter this morning to announce his interest in the position.

"If they need a new coach I'm available. We may not win a game but fark we'd have a good time," Swan wrote.

We don't know how much the Brownlow Medallist knows about the round ball game, but we definitely guarantee that it would be hilarious to watch.
