Triple M's Damian Barrett says the Western Bulldogs could be in the mix for Brisbane forward Josh Schache.

Schache and the Lions are seeking a trade home to Victoria, despite the 20-year-old having two more years to run on his current contract.

The former number two draft pick has not received much demand, though, with no club openly expressing their interest in him.

But Barrett told AFL Trade Radio the Dogs were entertaining the possibility of picking up the young gun.

He also noted the Hawks were not in the mix.

Schache's manager David Trotter has previously said the forward will see out his current deal with the Lions if he does not land a trade home to Victoria.

"All parties are working hard on getting a deal done and certainly Josh is very hopeful of playing in Melbourne next year," he said.

"If that doesn’t happen he will be happy to see out his contract in Brisbane next year."
