Essendon has become one of the league's in-form teams over the last few weeks, winning four of their last five games.
Their win over finals aspirants Gold Coast on Sunday follows wins over the likes of Brisbane, Sydney and St Kilda, but Damian Barrett has cast a shadow of doubt over their recent wave of results on Triple M's Rush Hour.
"(It was) a great performance by Essendon," he began.
"I do still think a lot of wins in this back half of a season once they can't make finals are fake, in terms of what it actually means.
"I would hope for their sake they don't get too caught up in winning four of the past five when their season was shot."
