Damian Barrett has revealed why Melbourne's Bernie Vince "oinked" at the end of his cross with Channel 9 news last night.
It was a throw back to the classic "Chompers" sign off which was made famous last year - much to the annoyance of Tony Jones.
However, Barrett says it was an in joke among Melbourne players...
Last night, Bernie Vince re-introduced the sign off.
JB: What’s with the oink?!
DB: I don’t think TJ’s taken too kindly to it. But to give Bernie his due - I think we can take this to the bank - I asked Bernie what he meant by that. He reckons it’s a word that Melbourne players use when ‘something happens’ - like when they’re playing golf and a putt goes in they all go “OINK!”
BB: Or if there’s a really good drive - “OINK!”
DB: I’m buying that.
