A Varsity Lakes man has been charged over the alleged seizure of $1,440,000 worth of ice found in a car.

The 67-year-old, who is alleged to be an associate of the Hells Angels OMCG, was stopped by police at Reedy Creek around 2.30pm on Thursday last week.

Police claim they uncovered 12 kilograms of methylamphetamine hidden inside the vehicle, believed to have been transported up from Sydney.

Officers then executed a search warrant at a Burleigh Heads address linked to the driver on Sunday, where they allegedly located equipment to produce MDMA, ice and cannabis.

It is alleged they also found a stash of firearms, ammunition, a distraction grenade, a large quantity of drugs and cannabis plants, and paraphernalia from the Hells Angels OMCG, Gold Coast chapter.

The 67-year-old was charged with possessing a schedule one dangerous drug, trafficking in dangerous drugs and possessing things used in commission of an offence.

He was due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

Police warned further arrests were likely.
