Retailers, consumers be wary

Riverina District Police

Riverina District police are urging consumers and retailers to be alert when exchanging money, with reports of counterfeit banknotes being used in the region.

The notes used in the most recent cases are quite clearly distinguishable as fakes, because they have Chinese characters across the clear window, and dotted lines across the denomination in the top corner.

Officers also say you are well within your rights to refuse to accept a banknote if you're suspicious about it.
