Adelaide's Charlie Cameron has asked for a trade.

The contracted Crow has expressed his desire to leave West Lakes during this year's trade period.

Triple M's Warren Tredrea confirmedĀ on Thursday afternoon that Cameron had told his teammates he wanted a trade.

"All I know is that Charlie Cameron has told the football club he wants to be traded home to Brisbane," he told Triple M's Rush Hour with Jars and Louie.

"We know the Lions have had interest for quite some time. There's a significant long-term deal on the table, and they're flushed with draft picks.

"It doesn't come as any surprise, but he had his exit meeting today with a number of the players down in Adelaide, and the understanding is he's told a lot of the players, too."

Cameron has been linked to a return home to Queensland throughout the year.

Adelaide head of football Brett Burton had previously expressed his commitment to having Cameron at the Crows in 2018.

"Charlie Cameron's contracted for 2018," he said on Triple M's Rush Hour with Jars and Louie.

"He's a required player and he's contracted for 2018."

The 23-year-old has played 73 games for Adelaide since being drafted as a rookie.
