Campbelltown City Council "forgot" to paint white lines on a newly resurfaced car park in Sydney's south-west, throwing the parking process into chaos.

Commuters using Leumeah Train Station are instead parking wherever they want which has left other drivers boxed in and unable to leave.

According to 7News, the council have deployed a "three-point strategy" to fix the issue, which one local reckoned was worse than driving "in third-world countries".

The plan will see parking fines waived until the new lines are painted - which won't happen until Saturday - and staff will be on-hand to direct traffic.
