Both Carlton and Gold Coast have been compensated by the AFL, being granted early access to state league players.

Carlton has received access to two players who have previously nominated or been eligible for the AFL draft, or were previously listed by an AFL team.

Gold Coast has received two extra category A rookie positions for the 2019 season, as well as the right to pre-list three players.

These teams can either keep these pre-listed players to boost their playing stocks or trade them to rival clubs for draft picks or players.

“As a club we’re appreciative of the assistance provided by the AFL,” Carlton CEO Cain Liddle said.

“It is now incumbent to the club to facilitate list management outcomes in the best interests of the Carlton Football Club.”

“The club delivered an in-depth submission to the AFL that outlined where we are at, and what we need to do going forward,” Gold Coast chief executive Mark Evans said.

“We wish to thank the AFL Commission for their understanding and support through this process, we feel the Commission have a full understanding of the challenges we have already faced and acted upon, and those challenges that we will be addressing during the next phase of club’s journey."
