The great Brian Lara has spent the last month or so in Melbourne, and in that time he found his way on to a golf course where he copped a touch up from Sam Newman.

“I started off getting there with a minute or so to go, so no time to warm up, and it was the first time I met Mr. Sam Newman,” Lara said.
“I teed off with Shane Warne as my partner, (former cricketer) Dimitri Masceranhas who was playing off of eight but definitely a one or two handicap… we were immediately down, myself and Shane, and I heard the word ‘press’.
“I heard the numbers before that we were playing for and I said ‘well ok, not a problem, might have that in my back pocket,’ but then I heard ‘press’, and I heard ‘press’ again.”
Luke Darcy explained what the concept ‘press’ means in golf.
“When you ‘press’ in golf, if you’re having a couple of dollars as a bet, you double down and press on your money,” Darc said.
“It’s double or nothing effectively, and Warney’s a known presser in golf isn’t he Brian?”
“He’s a big presser, and Sam Newman did a famous video on the 18th tee box already counting his money… we happened to pull of two pars that saved us a bit of money!
“The ATM could not have been closer!”
