Billy Brownless Talks About Gary Ablett’s Potential Return To Geelong

Speaking on the Footy Show

2 April 2017

Billy Brownless has spoken about his thoughts on Gary Ablett’s potential return to Geelong on Channel 9’s Sunday Footy Show today.

Ablett’s form has been poor for the first two games of 2017, leading to speculation that he will try to return home at the end of this season after he requested a trade last year.

But Billy doesn’t think it’s such a good idea.

“Geelong supporters will say ‘romantically yes, logistically no’,” Billy said.

“He’s 33. The Cats don’t need another older player on their list.”

Billy also felt Geelong couldn’t pay Ablett enough to get him back to the Cattery.

“He’s on one million dollars plus at the Suns, and the Cats might give him four or five hundred thousand and he won’t take that,” Billy said.

“I’d love to have him there about five years ago, but no.”
