BBC Announces First Female 'Doctor Who'

Game Changer!

17 July 2017

The BBC has revealed that the next Doctor Who will be Jodie Whittaker.

Prior to the announcement there had been rumours that a woman would take up the role of the thirteenth Doctor, with Whittaker eventually announced for the coveted role.

She replaces Peter Capaldi, who took the role in 2013.

Steven Moffat, the show's lead writer and executive producer, is also leaving the sci-fi series after the Christmas special, to be succeeded by Chris Chibnall.

For those not familiar with the ‘Time Lord’, the show is able to consistently change the actor who plays the Doctor as the character has the ability to ‘regenerate’.

Whittaker’s take on the famous role will first be viewed in early 2018.
