Avon West Cricket Academy on the rise

Indigenous cricket league gains momentum

17 January 2017

Based in Northam the Avon West Cricket Academy reaches out to local Aboriginal children and it's getting bigger every year. Run by the Davis family and volunteers, the league now has more than 70 kids and the goal is to get bigger!

A girls' competition is also now running and there is a plan to expand to Balladong country — reaching out to Quairading and Kellerberrin in the state's Wheatbelt.

The Academy is looking after age ranges from 8 to 17 and manages a trip to the WACA once a year to show off their skills.
