Australia's hit a new population milestone, reaching 24.5 million on Friday.

We got to 24 million back in February.

At the current rate of one person being added to our population every minute and 22 seconds, we'll get to 25 million by October 2018 according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

This increase includes newborns and immigrants.

In terms of babies, one is born here every minute and 40 seconds, someone dies every three minutes and 18 seconds and someone migrates here every two minutes or thereabouts.
