Following the footsteps of Fremantle star Nat Fyfe, another regional West Australian is a step closer to making his AFL dream come true.
Liam Baker is one of 36 players to be picked during today's Rookie Draft, heading to Richmond in 2018.
Baker is a product of the Lake Grace-Pingrup Football Club, while this season played at Subiaco in the WAFL scoring 19 goals in 13 matches.
Subiaco coach Jarrad Schofield is a big fan of Baker.
“He has only been at our club for a short time but what he has shown in that time is his commitment and his want to improve his game,” Schofield told The West Australian.
Baker was named in the CBH Colts All Star team at the 2014 Landmark Country Football Championships when he played for the Regional Distrcits team.
Fremantle completed their list for 2018 by adding Bailey Banfield (pick 5) and Stefan Giro (pick 21), while West Coast added Ryan Burrows (pick 13), Tony Olango (pick 27) and Callan England (pick 35) to their rookie list.
