Virginia State University is on lockdown after a shooting on campus.
WTVR-TV says at least one person has been shot and taken to hospital.
Police tweeted on Saturday night American time that the university was on lockdown after a shooting.
"Shooting on Campus - VSU is on lockdown. Avoid the area. Updates to follow," they wrote.
The university's website says it was celebrating the final day of its homecoming.
