Police were still on the hunt for an individual who broke into an Albury pound on Wednesday night.

It was reported that a break-in to the Albury Animal Care Centre in Lavington occurred between the hours of 8PM on June 9 and 8AM on June 10. During the trespassing, the individual unlocked cages and removed eight cats from the pound’s premises.

Police were unsure whether the cats were stolen or simply released, with some speculating that the crime may have been a form of vigilante work.

As of Thursday afternoon, four of the cats were reportedly recovered.

Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or here.
