AFLX has officially launched at Etihad Stadium, and there's a fair bit to take in.

The new format was launched on Tuesday and with it we saw some of the new additions and features for the game's newest format.

The official match ball was parachuted into the station, landing on an X on the turf, and it turns out they're using a silver Sherrin.

The ball was delivered to AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan, plus St Kilda's Jack Billings and North Melbourne's Shaun Atley.

The launch included a couple of circus performers, by the looks.

We also found out that the 10-point goal will be officially known as a 'zooper goal'.

The trophies were also shown off, with one for each city the game's played in.

Finally we had everyone pose in front of the giant X logo, including McLachlan, Atley, Billings, a Sherrin mascot, a couple of Saints and Roos fans and a couple of gymnasts.

The game officially starts on Thursday, February 15 with Port Adelaide, Geelong, Fremantle, Adelaide, West Coast and Collingwood playing at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Carlton, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Hawthorn, Essendon and St Kilda play at Etihad Stadium on Friday, February 16, while Greater Western Sydney, Richmond, Brisbane Lions, Sydney, Western Bulldogs and Gold Coast play at Allianz Stadium on Saturday, February 17.
