New Adelaide recruits Bryce Gibbs and Sam Gibson have received their new jumper numbers.

Gibbs will don the number six, last worn by Jake Lever and famously worn by Tony Modra, with which he played 118 games and kicked 440 goals.

He said old teammate Sam Jacobs had a good theory behind the new number.

“Sauce had an interesting one,” he told Adelaide's website.

“He said, ‘No.2, my old man’s number at Glenelg, plus No.4, my number at the Blues, equals No.6.”

Gibson has been awarded number 20, recently vacated by Hugh Greenwood and also worn by Tyson Stenglein and Ivan Maric.

Greenwood moved into no.1, while fellow midfielder Matt Crouch has moved from no.44 to no.5.

Youngster Myles Poholke has taken on the number 10.
